The series Beyond the Next Door is a series revolving around her intimate relationships while also reflecting on the female perspective. She is exploring ideas of vulnerability and discovering oneself in relationship. Through the use of lighting and objects Zoe distorts her subjects likeness including her own to comment on the idea of perception versus reality. Playing on the idea of altered reality, Beyond the Next Door exposes power in vulnerability and the feeling of being caught in-between spaces. Spaces such as reality and perception. Beyond the Next Door enforces the notion that perceptions are reality which influences one’s self-discovery within society. By having her subjects look into the camera she invites views to see power in being in a vulnerable state.
